Rules and Safety Guidelines
Trove Studios Rules and Safety Guidelines are for all members using the studio please cooperate in maintaining the studio and following procedures outlined in this guide are to keep the studio functioning smoothly.
General studio rules of etiquette

Respect everyone’s personal space and do not disturb people while they are working.

Do not touch other people’s work or tools without permission from that person. Permission granted on one day does not confer permission at another time.

Inform studio manager of any broken or damaged pots or equipment.

Do not offer unsolicited advice or criticism of other people’s work.

Positive comments are acceptable.

Exercise good judgment when using studio materials and supplies; please do not waste or overuse them.

Be mindful of how much space you are using.

Be considerate of fellow artists.
Working in the studio

All materials and equipment must be approved by studio manager.

All glazes must be lead free. Glazes are for STUDIO USE ONLY and should not be taken out of studio.

Do not bring in outside work that is not your own.

Only work created by members will be fired.

All grinding must occur outside the studio. (Please were eye protection).

No shared areas or subletting areas*.
-
Work may not be stored on shared studio benches.
-
No pets/dogs in the studio.

Avoid recycling clay on the wedging tables.

When working or storing work, do not block doors and passageways.
*Your membership area is for you and only you, you cannot bring additional assistants or helpers. (one person per membership.) You are welcome to have guests or company at your area but they cannot be helping in the production of your art.
Kiln
The studio manager is responsible for loading and unloading and firing the kiln unless other arrangements have been made. A firing log is posted in the kiln room. The kiln's ventilation must be switched on during the firing process to release gases and fumes to the outdoors. Studio members are not allowed to touch, load, unload, or operate the kiln. Shelves and kiln furniture will be stacked neatly in the appropriate places after firings.
Drying room
Artwork should be placed on the shelving provided. Note please place work on the appropriate named shelving.
Selling your work
We encourage everyone at the studio to get their art out into the world. We ask that you refrain from copying other studio members artwork.
Cleanup
Cleaning is necessary after each session .
Step 1: Clay and glaze scraps
Empty all clay and glaze scraps into one of the provided buckets depending on your activities including: Scraps, Trimmings, Slurry..etc
Step 2: Wash up
Sponge all tools including brushes, equipment , wheel sand splash pans, banding wheels and bench surfaces.
Note: MDF bats cannot get too wet or they will warp. Wipe only please.
Step 3: Drying
Dry using a towel all items and place them back in their original spots. Turn wheel off if applicable.
Step 4: Clean floorspace
Mop up the floor around your workspace space. NOTE: You cannot sweep clay as its a silica hazard.
Step 5: Supplies and equipment
Return all supplies and studio tools to their allocated space
Remove any rubbish or litter do not leave food in the studio overnight.
Closing Procedures

Check all faucets are fully turned off.

Check that all wheels are turned off.

Check that all doors are locked.
-
Check that all equipment is in the proper places, tables and counters are wiped, and glazes are covered.

Turn off lights and lock the exit door.
To ensure a fulfilling and positive experience for all members. You must agree to adhere to these rules, and guidelines. Failure to do so may result in suspension of membership to the studio.
